Kjell-Ole Haune
Author, Composer & Lyricist of TONIGHT

Ole is 27 years old and was born in Oslo, Norway. He graduated from LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) in July 1999 receiving a BA(Hons) in Performing Arts (Music).
Ole Haune started his interest for music already at the age of four. Five years old he joined the St. Johannes Boys Choir, lead by Svein Brun, as the youngest person to be recruited. One year later he started taking piano lessons.
He did his twelve months National Service in His Majesty the Kings Guard in the age of 19. While he were in the army he applied to the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, where he started in September 96.
The same year
he started at LIPA, he also started working on developing the ideas he had for a
musical, creating the story as well as writing the lyrics and the music for what
would later be recognised as the musical TONIGHT. When the first draft of the
manuscript was finished he presented it to Dr Nicholas Lloyd Phillips, Head of
Musical Theatre at LIPA. He found the work intriguing and
interesting and soon they were work-shopping part of TONIGHT during his Musical
Theatre classes. During November- December 98, Ole directed and
lead some of the Musical Theatre Workshop-classes as
well as directing the LIPA-choir.
A small performance of three songs
from his musical where performed by the Musical theatre Class at the end of
term, receiving interest and good feedback.
For his final project, Ole recorded two of the songs from his musical together with part of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. (RLPO). The Orchestra consisted of 22 people and seven singers, all put together by Ole. The music was composed, written, orchestrated and conducted by Ole himself.
Ole worked one year (2000) with producer Simon Denton, reaching their first goal, presenting a concert version of TONIGHT at the Peacock Theatre in the West End, London, 21st. October 2000. The concert was performed by a 40 piece Orchestra, 8 principals, and an ensemble of 30 people. The piece received a standing ovation and was well received. This was the first big mile-stone, proving that the work had a broad appeal, a good potential and that it would be something to develop further.
This
lead to three large concert-performances of the piece in Oslo, in Norway,
September 2002, where TONIGHT received standing ovations from over 3000
spectators in the prestigious Oslo Concert Hall. The music was this time
performed by the Norwegian Radio Orchestra starring an international cast of
soloists from Norway, Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom, together with an
ensemble of 30 and a choir of 100 singers. The entire concert was later
broadcast on National Radio in Norway.
A month later the new musical once again received praise, as TONIGHT where selected for the finals of the International Festival of Musical Theatre’s (IMFT) Sony Global Search for New Musicals in Cardiff, Wales.
Ole is currently living in London where he working for his own production company KOH Ltd, which has now turned into a venture company attracting investors on an international level. As well as working on developing TONIGHT, Ole is also working as a songwriter, writing songs for other artists. He is also working on other new projects, which he plans to present in the near future.
